D’Stassi Art is proud to continue its journey through the rich legacy of Lower East Side graffiti and street art with a landmark solo exhibition: Lady Pink: Miss Subway NYC.

Opening 18th July 2025, this immersive exhibition brings one of the most iconic voices of the movement to London, transporting audiences back to 1980s New York with a full-scale recreation of a graffiti-covered NYC subway station inside the gallery. Through this unforgettable environment and a powerful collection of artworks, Lady Pink invites viewers to experience the raw spirit and cultural rebellion that defined a generation.

Lady Pink: From Subway Trains to Global Icon

Born in Ecuador and raised in Queens, Lady Pink (Sandra Fabara) began writing graffiti in 1979, and by the early 1980s, had become one of the most respected and visible figures in the scene. As a young woman making her mark in a male-dominated world, she challenged expectations with bold style and fearless authenticity, painting entire subway cars and earning early international acclaim.

A starring role in the seminal hip-hop film Wild Style and exhibitions at institutions like the Whitney Museum cemented her place in art history. Over the decades, she has continued to evolve, fusing street energy with fine art and using her platform to address themes of feminism, identity, resistance, and resilience.

Lady Pink is more than a graffiti legend; she is a cultural pioneer, educator, and lifelong advocate for creative expression.

A Fully Immersive Experience

Miss Subway NYC offers more than a retrospective; it’s a visceral, living exhibition that immerses visitors in the time and place where it all began.

At the heart of the show is a reconstruction of a 1980s New York City subway station, complete with era-specific graffiti, textures, and soundscapes. It’s a tribute to the birthplace of Lady Pink’s creative journey and the gritty, expressive energy of the Lower East Side art scene.

The exhibition features a curated selection of original works by Lady Pink, including new commissions alongside archival pieces, sketches, and ephemera from her early career.

This is a rare opportunity to step into the visual world that shaped a movement.

A Moment of Continuity

This exhibition marks an important chapter for D’Stassi Art, as we continue to honour and platform the artists who shaped the DNA of urban art. Having hosted Angel ‘LAII’ Ortiz, another seminal figure of the Lower East Side graffiti movement, it’s a privilege to now work with Lady Pink, whose influence runs parallel and just as deep.

Together, these exhibitions create a bridge between generations of street art, celebrating the individuals who defined a cultural revolution and continue to inspire artists worldwide.

From the Founders

Michael Howes and Edward Sanders, co-founders of D’Stassi Art:

“Lady Pink is a true icon. This exhibition is not only an honour for the gallery, but a continuation of the story we began with Angel Ortiz, exploring the roots of Lower East Side graffiti and celebrating the pioneers who gave street art its soul. With the immersive NYC subway experience, we want to bring audiences into Lady Pink’s world and show how her legacy continues to influence the culture today.”
