D'STASSI ART PRESENTS SURFACE TENSION: A GROUP SHOW

Surface Tension is a group exhibition that brings together a wide spectrum of artists whose work embodies the energy, friction, and possibility that arise when different practices, generations, and cultural backgrounds converge.

The exhibition features artists who move fluidly between the street and the studio, the underground and the international stage. Lady Pink, a pioneering figure in graffiti and one of the first women to make her mark in a male-dominated scene, stands alongside Malik Roberts, whose striking paintings explore image, identity, and media culture. Trevor Andrew, known widely as GucciGhost, brings his irreverent visual language, while Peter Opheim’s vivid, sculptural paintings expand the boundaries of figuration. Anthony Rondinone, Yok, Rose Madone, and Adam Handler further enrich the lineup, representing the breadth of contemporary practice that shifts between street art, abstraction, narrative painting, and contemporary figuration.

Adding to this dynamic are special appearances by globally recognized figures such as Madsaki, Slawn, and Takashi Murakami, artists who each embody the intersections of popular culture, fine art, and mass media. Their presence amplifies the exhibition’s dialogue, highlighting how surface and tension continue to define not only contemporary painting and sculpture but also the ways audiences encounter art in a world saturated with images.

Surface Tension is not a single story but a site of collision and exchange. Each work presented in the show asserts itself differently, some playful, others deeply personal, yet together they speak to the vitality of contemporary art as a space where boundaries blur and new meanings emerge. By placing emerging voices alongside established names, the exhibition underscores the ongoing influence of street culture, while also mapping how its energy continues to reverberate within the broader landscape of art today.
