Step inside the South Bronx studio of New York artist Daze as he reflects on his early years painting the subway system and the evolution of his practice over the past four decades. This short film offers a rare look at his working environment and the ideas behind Corner Seat, his new limited edition print created in collaboration with Dark Green Studios and D’Stassi Art.
Daze discusses the origins of his signature subway seat motif, the role of colour and gesture in the piece, and how the edition connects to his wider relationship with New York. The video also touches on his longstanding collaborations, recent projects and the ongoing dialogue between street-informed practices and contemporary painting. Corner Seat is available in an edition of 175 prints plus 5 hand-embellished works, launching on 12 December.
